Before the start of each new season, you should prepare your HVAC equipment so that it continues to run smoothly. There are several different things you can do to prep your system, but we’ve narrowed it down to five simple spring HVAC tips.

Call a Certified HVAC Technician

If you’re not having your HVAC equipment checked out once per year, now’s the perfect time to start. Call a certified technician and have them visit your home for a full inspection to make sure everything’s running properly before the season begins.

Replace or Clean Your Air Filter

Your air filter keeps harmful pollutants from being recycled into your home’s air. The filter should be either replaced or cleaned every one to three months, depending on what type of filter the system uses. This is one of the spring HVAC tips that will keep your air clean and improve the unit’s efficiency.

Clean Supply Vents and Registers

It doesn’t take long for vents and registers to get clogged up with dust and debris, especially if you’ve had a lot of people over at your home during the winter. The good news is that this is a simple fix. All you need to do is vacuum up as much as you can and then use a microfiber cloth to get the rest.

Inspect and Clean the Air Ducts

Air ducts are an essential part of your HVAC equipment’s ability to cool and heat your home. Add the air ducts for damage and dust/debris. Then, you can repair and clean them as needed so that your system runs better throughout the spring season.

Clean Off the Outdoor HVAC Unit

If your home has an outdoor unit, check it out before the new season starts. You may find various types of debris, including tree branches and maybe even a bird’s nest or two. Spray this off with a garden hose to get rid of everything. This is one of the easiest spring HVAC tips you can do yourself.
