Summer is upon us, and you know what that means: Your air conditioner is about to become a necessity. The good news is that we have some wonderful warm weather HVAC tips that will help you stay cool throughout the season.
Schedule Your Annual Checkup to Be Ready for Warm Weather HVAC
The best way to keep your air conditioner running great when the weather gets hot is to schedule an annual checkup by an experienced HVAC technician. He or she will make sure that your AC unit is running efficiently and present you with any problems that have come up or that might arise in the future. If any repairs are needed, you can get them done right away to avoid bigger, more costly issues.
Clean or Replace the AC’s Filter
Your AC’s filter catches all the nasty debris and harmful particulates that would otherwise be recirculated back into your home’s air. These filters need to be checked and either cleaned or replaced every one to three months, but especially as you look toward the months of warm weather HVAC. The beginning of the summer season is a great time to take a look to see if now is the time to take action.
Clean Up the Outdoor Condenser
The spring season brings with it a lot of dust, leaves, and other debris. Much of this debris has probably landed on your outdoor condenser unit. Before the summer begins, you should head outside and get it cleaned off. Simply grab your garden hose and wash it down. If you see any large items such as a bird’s nest or tree branches, though, you can start by taking those things off by hand.
Upgrade to a Smart Thermostat
Modern smart thermostats give you more control over your cooling costs than ever before. These systems not only allow you to set the temperature remotely through a Wi-Fi connection, but you can also receive energy-usage reports and shut off the system entirely from a phone app. These thermostats will help you gain control of your energy bills throughout the summer.
